driveWISE Participating Vehicle Requirements
by Jon Felton - Updated 12/30/07
All vehicles to be used at any time during driveWISE schools must be
100% street legal, registered, inspected, insured, and safe to drive.
Unfortunately due to their high center of gravity, you cannot participate with:
-2wd or 4wd midsize/fullsize trucks (F150 or larger, Tacoma or larger, etc.)
-2wd or 4wd midsize/fullsize SUV's (Tahoe, Explorer, Cherokee, etc.)
Exceptions to this rule may include Cayenne, Touareg, X5, and similar vehicles.
Some compact trucks and small SUV's may be allowed on a case by case basis.
Minivans are probably ok to use, depending upon make and model of course.
Fullsize vans are considered trucks and are subject to the exclusions above.
So if you plan to use anything other than a regular passenger car, please contact us first.
We will perform a technical inspection that day on every entered vehicle.
You will need to print a copy of the form, fill out the top portion, and bring it.
The form lists the standards by which your car must be inspected before you can participate.
You are strongly urged to “pre-tech” your car – or have a mechanic do it - before the school.
The form will be signed and a tech sticker will be applied ONLY if your vehicle meets
these standards on event day. Unfortunately there will be no refunds for cars that
do not pass. Making sure your car is ready for a driveWISE school is YOUR responsibility!
