Autocross events are the most entry-level form of sports car racing and have taken place all over the world since the 1950's (when they were better known as "gymkhana" events.) Participants simply drive as fast as possible one at a time against the clock. Top speeds are usually less than 65 miles per hour because the sport is intended to encourage vehicle handling and driver skill at real-world speeds. NASA Mid-Atlantic autocrosses are open to any licensed driver in nearly any street or race car, utilizing a classification system designed to produce close competition. Victory and defeat are often separated by mere thousandths of a second.

To get to Langley Speedway, take Interstate 64 to exit 261B (Hampton Roads Center Parkway.) Go about a mile and bear right onto the Magruder Blvd (Rte 134 North) ramp. Stay left, go back under the parkway, and come to a stoplight with a Mercedes Benz/Dodge dealership on the right. Go about a mile and bear right onto Commander Sheppard Blvd. This road bends left and Armistead Ave comes in from the right. Go straight, pass (the other) NASA's LARC entrance on the right and a trailer park on the left, then turn immediately left into the speedway. The long white building across the street is a very historic wind tunnel - when you see it, you are in the right place!
